So I have stayed here for 2 months. how much is the basic living cost of Melbourne?

Here are the approximate daily essential expenses:

  • Rental (for a 2 bed room apartment) :AUD 44
  • Transportation (Assuming you are staying in the Zone 1, cost will raise when staying in Zone 2) :AUD 3.4
  • Food & drink (3 basic meals a day): AUD 20
  • Utility (Water & Electricity): AUD 5

So , by doing nothing, you need around AUD$72.4 (~ USD61.54) a day to live in Melbourne city.

So you need to at least earned AUD 2300 (USD 1955) a month from your day job if you wanna survive in  this city.

I am not sure about other countries, but in Singapore, it is roughly as below:

Daily expenses:

  • Rental (2-bedroom flat): SGD 40
  • Transportation: SGD 4
  • Food & Drink : SGD 15
  • Utility: SGD 4

Daily total: SGD 63 (~ USD 41)

These are all very basic livng cost, excluding alcohol, weekend dinners, entertainment etc.

Looking at this, well…work harder buddy.

No trade for the week

I did not manage to make a single trade this week. The increase of workload and stress level, kept me in a bad condition for trading. I missed to sell off of Aussie dollar this week. However, I am now considering to increase my long term Aussie dollar holding. Though the rebound might not happen immediately, it seems to be a bargain to me now. Well, let’s see how it goes.

Asian stocks market was having some wild ride as well. I am checking out my stocks position now. I have long positions in Singapore stocks market. Not too much, so far, the performance is better than my savings account in bank now.

I certainly do not like the stress and the tiredness that my current job has given me. But well, to be frank, for the sake of money, I have to find a way to deal with them. Do I sound like a modern slave? I guess I am.

Nonsense show

I am a TV guy. One of the most nonsense show I have ever watched is Age of Love. You see gorgeous ladies in their 20s and 40s fighting each other, crying, acting desperately just for this tennis player. The ladies and the man are beautiful, but the show is absolutely ugly and stupid. Well, maybe there are great entertainment values, but, it is absolutely a nonsense.

Thursday trade

Not a great day for me. Extremely busy working day and my profitable long position of Aussie and short position of loonies are stopped out. Oh well, if only I can monitor the position closer, I would have a better exit. I am flat or maybe slightly down for the week.

Forex trade du jour & review

Finally we see a breakout of Aussie dollar. I was long since yesterday, but was stopped out. I entered another long position today after the release of the much expected interest rate raise.

I went short on USD/CAD since yesterday and held overnight. Though both Aussie and looney trades are winning trades, I grade my own performance rather poor. I lost my patience to hold on winner. (Good old problem again). The fear of losing profit affects my performance and limits my profit. This is something that needs to be overcome.
