SG futures market 31-Jul-2006 : No trade

by Gav 20 Comments

It was another boring day for SG futures market. Both TIMSCI and SIMSCI did not provide good trade setup. Bulls failed to perform. TIMSCI closed in negative zone and filled the opening gap. SIMSCI opened high, and closed with +1.3 point gain, giving up most of morning gain. No trade was done. Here are the 15-min charts SIMSCI Futures

Hey Gav, how's it going? Back in sg yet? Btw, what do you use to chart the Sg and Taiwan futures? Is this through your trading platform? Btw, do you ever look at the HK futures? Might of interest as well. Rgds Eyal

Eyal: Welcome to my blog. Yup, I am back to SG. busy with my marriage stuffs. Gotta arrange quite a number of things.

The blue chart you were seeing, is from Esignal, Marketcenterlive.com. It is a very simple chart, which , you can't even draw a trendline on the chart.

I have discountinued the service, since I am trading Dow and Nasdaq futures, and my new trading platform provides me nice real time chart for U.S futures.

I did not trade HangSeng before. Let me see if I can find some info. I'll drop you an email later.

Vince: A bit too early to go long now. It might end up as a short trade. I am still watching.

Gav: I am not new to trading but I am new to trading with my own money -I have traded on wall st for institutional money – this is a different mind game and I only want to day trade – It seems that the dummy trading is suitable for my style. I am going  to trade futures only – bonds, ten year note, S&P. dow, gold and hopefully oil. I have attempted the forex futures but many times the big movements take place about 3 to 4 am NY time. How long have you been at this? If I see a set up for a dummy trade would you mind if I shoot you an email to point it out to you – in the beginniing it may be good to get someone else's feedback especially if the trading styles will be similar. thx Vince

Vince: It is interesting to hear about your trading experience. Of course, I will be more than happy to discuss with you on dummy tradings. I will drop you an email shortly. ๐Ÿ™‚ btw, I missed out the LONG entry of Gold, and my broker did not set up the contract to be tradeable on my account. Goosh…

GAV: NICE TRADE AND VERY TIMELY PROFIT TAKING – I TRADED THE S&P AND BROKE EVEN – IT LOOKS LIKE THE GOLD TRADE WOULD HAVE BEEN A BREAK EVEN ALSO- IT GAVE YOU OVER 4 BUCKS IN THE FIRST HALF HOUR AFTER ENTRY BUT THEN RETRACED BACK DOWN – LIKE THE S&P IT NEVER GAVE YOU A 2R PROFIT – CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR -IF STOPS WERE RAISED IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A BREAKEVEN TRADE. Thanks Vince. I suppose you are referring to the Mini Nasadaq trade on 09-August-2006 . It is great to interact with you during trading hour.  Have a good nite!
