Trading diary: 29-September-2006 Friday Morning

by Gav Leave a Comment

Dear diary,

After watching the market for the first 30 minutes, I, again, lost the interest to trade today. We are likely to have another choppy day. Man, I can’t wait for September to be over. NYSE TICK is hovering around +400 to -400. It spent most of time above 0. Volume is normal, nothing impressive. Bears are trying to sell the top, but I don’t think it is a good idea to go short at the moment.

From the first 30 minutes of trading, I see a volatile with slightly positive biased sentiment. I am not going to trade today. I just can’t catch where does market try to go today.

I will start my reading now. Talk to you later.

John Carter>> NYSE TICK

I read again John Carter’s article on TICK. I found it useful and I incorporate it into my trading. It assists me in exiting potentially losing trade or protecting profit. It will reduced the situation like’ I exited the trade earlier because I feel something is not right’.

Trading diary: 28-September-2006 Thursday morning

by Gav Leave a Comment

Dear diary,

This is between you and me. I wanna tell you what I see in the market right now. It seems like we are likely to see a pull back today after last few days’ gain in indices. YM, ES, NQ, ER2 are having negative opening.

Volume wise, it is enough to contribute a volatile session since average volume in 5-min chart of ES in the first 30 minutes are above 10k. I said a volatile session because NYSE TICK is moving in the range of +400 to -400 in the first 30 minutes. So the negative opening does not seem to be a sell off.

I really don’t know what will happen later of the day. I will see what is the situation and decide if I am going to trade.

I will talk to you later.

Dummy day trading #29 27-September-2006: E-mini Nasdaq: Long trade closed

by Gav 2 Comments

This is a wrong demonstration of dummy trading. This is not a valid setup. I got in E-mini Nasdaq 0900am chicago time above 845am candle. The entry was made after crude inventory report was released. It was a buying climax. It went up in my favour and end the 15-min candle in red. I was not comfortable with this kinda situation, I closed my trade before stop loss was triggered. I don’t care if it moves up later, the price action is just not my type.

One trade closed with -0.57R loss.

by Gav Leave a Comment

A quick one. We have slight positive opening with YM, ES, NQ took off yesterday’s high in the first 30 minutes, however, it seems to be? it is likely to be a choppy day ahead.

I don’t have specific trading preference at this point of time.

Dummy day trading #28 26-September-2006: E-mini Nasdaq: Long trade closed

by Gav 2 Comments

Long position of E-mini Nasdaq was established above 10am chicago time candle. It broke out flag pattern and dummy setup was found. BUT,I was stopped out immediately at next candle. One trade closed with 1-R (ok, 1 Z ) loss.

  •  Why would you be paying attention to this futures contract ? I see continuation of uptrend in 15-min chart and index surged at 3rd bar. A broke out from flag pattern
  •  Is the trend up or down? Would you be looking to get long or short this futures contract? Up. Looking at LONG only
  •  Where would you get long/short this futures contract ? Above 10am Chicago time candle. It is a NR7.
  •  Where would you put the initial protective stop? Below 10am chicago time candle
  •  When would you stop trading for the day? Immediately after position established or 12noon
  •  Where would you exit the position? Stop loss triggered or profit taking at height of flag pole.
