August 2006: Week 1 review

by Gav 10 Comments

Inspired by Ugly, I am posting this weekly review for the month. This is not to show off how good I am (anyway, I am still too far from it), but it is to show how bad my performance can be if I am trading with lack of discipline/fail to plan whatsoever. Alrite, enough said. Nothing really fantastic for week 1, though I closed it with positive note. I can't complain too much since this is the first week I fully switch to U.S market trading. I used to trade SG futures market, which is a relatively very small market. I am now working on E-minis and Mini Dow.

Here we go.

Hi Gav: 2 questions – if you don't mind 1) I noticed that you include overnight session in your bar chart in your Dow etc futures when the cash mkt guys will only trade on the day only session charts – I am curious why you do this – because it does have an affect on the moving averages and therefore an affect on whcih way the trend may be.To stay in tune with mike and ugly etc I have been trading the future's index on the day session only. Your thoughts? 2) DO you know of a blog that has other futures- ie forex, bonds, stock index etc. that maybe also use the dummy style trades. Thanks, Vince

Hi Vince, I only start trading during U.S day session as well. I normally use the 30-min charts for the last 24-hours. That is just a personal preference. I like to see pre U.S market action, to get a feel of market. Though it affect the moving averages, I see the effect  in a positive way. So far, I did not see any other blog trading derivative products using dummy style. I am still browsing around to search. Have a nice day.  ๐Ÿ™‚
