Monday’s trading

by Gav Leave a Comment

I was not available to watch the market yesterday due to my busy day job. No trade was made. I missed the move of NZD/USD and EUR/JPY in the Asian afternoon. I do not incline to put on any day trade in Monday morning (Australian hours) as spreads are normally still in ‘holiday mood’, too wide to be stomached by day trader. Things will normally get back to normal when Japanese market is opened (that’s 10am in Melbourne, Australia).

Well, no trade, no R. Btw, my gut feeling tells me I will be living in the world where 1 AUD= 1 USD soon….uhm, time to plan for a vacation in Miami ? ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Another strong week for Aussie dollar (Stronger than I’d expected!). We are back to the 1989 high again. Lovely.ย  Well, are we looking at the high at 1984 around 0.97 soon? uhm..never underestimate currency market, nothing is impossible. Anyway, I will still day trade in Long position at the moment, but I will be a little bit stricter now. I am watching 0.8830-5 area.

Let’s see.

My MP3 day

by Gav Leave a Comment

poundsterling.jpgAfter the “kinda frustrated..” day, I am having a “kinda happy” day. I have finally achieved my 100-pips day. In fact, I am up 200 pips today.
It is time for me to get my MP3 player, it was the reward I set for myself when I achieve a 100 pips day.(still IPod or Creative Zen?..)

A hit or miss game
I was surprised by the sell off of GBP crosses. I mean, I was surprised by the speed of sell off. I woke up in the morning with full of confidence to short GBP/JPY, and of course, my darling GBP/USD. I was trying to Long EUR/JPY as well. There were some buying during Sydney hours , but tone changed when Japanese was greeting Ohiyo(Good morning in Japanese, in case you are confused) to the Forex market.

I found myself exiting position prematurely yesterday due to some fears in me. I knew it was a mistake and a problem. Today I decided to close my trading screen after putting in profit target and stop loss orders. Long EUR/JPY was stopped out, and I went short at the same time.
Market was in selling mood, so all short positions were covered by take profit orders.

More works need to be done.
I am not sure if I can close the week with positive note, but I am pretty comfortable now, I have figured out a lot of problems and refining my trading plan along the way. It takes tons of effort to study and refining strategy. It is really a different game to me. What works for me in futures market , hurts me in Forex market. Anyways, I am enjoying the learning process, and of course, the pips.

May the pips be with you.

Oh I forgot to mention ” The real man trades Futures, his son trades Forex, I am trading both, for my wife” ๐Ÿ™‚

Dummy day trading #67,#68,#69 NQ Long trades closed

by Gav Leave a Comment

I have made 3 long trades on NQ futures today, one during opening, 2 trades around noon time. Tough all trades were profitable with very small trades, I don’t feel I was making good trade. I failed to hold on winner which would definitely give me bigger profit.

End the day with +2.23 R gain.

Dummy day trading #66 04-April-2007 NQ Long trade closed

by Gav Leave a Comment

I saw a dummy setup right before I shut down my Tradestation. This is a small R trade. Long position of NQ futures was established around 1205pm. NQ was moving in my favour, however, it was slow. And subsequently, an ugly big down candle at 1230pm pissed me off. I bailed out with 0.21 R (after commission) gain.

Dummy day trading #65 26-Mar-2007: NQ Short trade closed

by Gav Leave a Comment

Short position of NQ was established around 11am. Trade did go in my favour, however, it was slow. I trailed stops and get stopped with -0.27 R loss.

Journal note: This is a bad trade. Firstly, It was too late for short entry. And subsequently, a long setup was formed and it was not taken. There is a need to establish a method to identify a new setup when one setup failed. Be flexible, I need to learn.
